Review of the April 2026 protest wave
A camp that has grown
In April 2026 we returned – and how. For the second time, we built our camp directly in front of the main headquarters of Heidelberg Materials in the park on the Uferstraße.
A whole week, from 12 to 20 April, the park was our home, our learning place and our starting point for resistance.
What we put on our feet:
- Workshops on
- global solidarity – fighting against Heidelberg Materials in Pakistan, Indonesia, Western Sahara, Togo, Australia and Palestine
- Bauwende-Visionen: What does a world look like to build wood and clay instead of concrete?
- Resistance strategies and forms of action
- Climate justice and the failure of the "green solutions" of the cement industry
- u.v.m.
- Concerts and Cultural Programs
- Kitchen for everyone from morning to evening
- Networking rooms, action training and reference group finding
- A solo party at the Café Leitstelle on 11 April – we have already heated up before the camp
Actions that have beaten waves
At the same time around Camp, actions were carried out in and around Heidelberg, which attracted attention beyond the city boundaries.

Roof occupation: Worldwide resistance made visible
Six more people were positioned on the front roofs and showed flags of the regions where Heidelberg Materials is damaging: from Western Sahara to Indonesia to Pakistan.

Party instead of parking
The parking lot in front of the Aldi in Bergheim (Poststraße 7) was conquered and transformed into a place of life: with music, soap bubbles, deck chairs, dancefloor and many loved ones. Because dead concrete surfaces do not need a human – and we have shown how it can go. 🌞

Port crane in Mannheim
As a lion's tooth, Rául has chained himself to the main switch of the Heidelberg material discharge crane in Mannheim's port and temporarily brought the operation to a standstill. Because what happens here every day – the transport of raw materials for an industry that contributes massively to the climate crisis – must not simply remain invisible.

"Grey instead of green" demo through the Heidelberg Old Town
With a huge cement popanz in the tow and the choir "Beton! Concrete! Concrete" about 50 people from the Heidelberger Theater are drawn through the old town to the protest camp. Ironic protest, which shows: We know very exactly how Heidelberg Materials is presenting the future. And we don't want to.

Scandinavian greenwashing at the Heidelberg Spring
The fact that Heidelberg Materials can still be a benefactor at the "Heidelberger Frühling" classical music festival is more than dangerous.

Achievements achieved
The second wave of protest was stronger than the first – and that is no coincidence.
- We have shown that the resistance against Heidelberg Materials is growing and continuing.
- With the double blockade in Leimen and Eppelheim as well as the crane action in Mannheim, we have significantly expanded the geographical range of our actions.
- We have made the international dimension of resistance visible. The roof occupancy on the first camp day has set a strong opening signal.
- We have once again created a place of community and learning with the camp.
- We have provided press attention throughout Germany and regionally.
- We have gained new people, made references and strengthened the alliance
- And: One year after the first discussion, we have built up further pressure so that the demands for a compensation fund and an independent human rights report do not disappear in the drawer.
