Resistance in Australia

Around the iconic Glass House Mountains in eastern Australia, a tough conflict has raged for years over the planned expansion of the Heidelberg Materials quarry. The company, which currently extracts around 650,000 tons of rock per year, wants to increase its production to up to 1.2 million tons and at the same time penetrate significantly deeper into the underground. For the local population, this means more heavy goods traffic on narrow country roads, more dust, noise, explosive shocks and destruction of the environment – right on the unique mountains that are considered "National Heritage".

The response on the ground is determined and broad. Especially around the initiativesSave Our Glass House Mountains

The final decision is open, actually the Sunshine Coast Council should decide, but in September 2025 Heidelberg Materials has taken legal action. That is why the residents decided to step up the fight and together with End Cement to organize an event directly in front of the headquarters of the group.
