Protest Camp — 4.-10. April 2025 — Heidelberg— #EndCementFestival
COMMONLY AGAINST HEIDELBERG MATERIALS & FUER DIE BAUWENDE.
LOOKING BACK

The camp is over but we have achieved a lot!
We knocked a protest camp and fat actions on the clean! Look at the look back!
Why the protest camp?
In the spring of 2025 we gather together in the hometown of the cement giant and German climate killer number 1: Heidelberg Materials.
The cement industry pollutes our air, fuels the climate and destroys ecosystems and habitats worldwide. And for what? For ugly, loveless concrete blocks that cause us to be isolated, heat our cities and whose rents still remain priceless.
That must stop. We want wood and clay instead of concrete. We want affordable housing instead of speculative objects. We want community instead of isolation. In short: We want the construction change!
Heidelberg Materials tries to pretend, however, that they could use a few technicalWish-) Solutions remain everything as it is. Day after day, the climate killer portrays himself as a green pioneer and denies all his many human rights allegations as in Togo, Palestine, Western Sahara and Indonesia.
This is why we are organising the End Cement Festival in parallel with the Heidelberg Spring, the cultural festival where Heidelberg Materials can present itself as a benefactor every year.
At our festival, we live the reversal of the building: everyone is cordially invited to live in solidarity with us for a few days and to enjoy culture that is accessible to everyone.
More information during the camp
Location
Directly in front of the Heidelberg Materials headquarters "Park an der Uferstraße".
From Heidelberg Central Station you walk On foot Simple 15 minutes north. Alternatively, take the Tram lines 24 or 25 and after 5 minutes exit at the "Jahnstraße" .
Please note that the Jahnstraße tram stop is not wheelchair accessible. You will need to take a bus, e.g. the 32 to Jahnstraße or the 31 to Bunsengymnasium, which unfortunately involves a relatively long walk.
Is the camp accessible?
For us it is the first time that we plan and carry out a camp of this size. We want it to be accessible to all people, but we are aware that we may not consider some needs. If you have specific needs that make it easier for you to access the camp and the program, please let us know, we will do our best to fulfill them. Please sign up for it. post@end-cement.earth
We are working on breaking down some barriers. There are no steps on site and access to program tent, food delivery, toilets and stage is via paved paths and without stairs (maximum low rounded curb). Other tents are in the grass. The program tent is expected to be occupied with floor plates.

Sleeping
1. TENT
In the camp there is free space for camping, as well as electricity, toilet and water. You do not need to register, but of course bring your own tent, etc.
But beware: We are in Heidelberg city centre and nearby is a not too busy road, so bring earplugs if you need them.
2. BED EXCHANGE
From now on, there is also a Bettenboerse, about which sleeping places for the camp period can be offered, searched for and mediated by other active people.
Programme
For a week, the park will become the crystallization point for a change in construction and Protest Camp against Heidelberg Materials.
Cooking for everyone
Together we provide ourselves with three vegan meals a day:
- Breakfast: 8:30-9:30
- Lunch: 13:00-14:00
- Dinner: 19:00-20:00
While people are already busy planning, they are happy during the camp about every person who helps snip and a Donation between 3 and 5€ by day to cover the costs!
DEFINITION & NETWORKING
The camp is to become a place of encounter, among other things in the common Morning plenary or with networking meetings.
As a tip: There are table tennis tables in the park anyway and right next door are the skate park, a beach volleyball field and the Neckarwiese where you can make friends with geese.
Who wants to stay the whole week and we are happy about it! Of course, it is also worth every single day and especially the weekend from 4.-6. April.
Actions
At the same time as the camp, several groups in Heidelberg are planning actions around the changeover. While large actions are widely announced, other actions run through reference groups. For this to work, there are three central steps:
STEP 1: ACTION TRAINING
Action training is on:
- 4. April (Friday) at 16:00-20:00
- 6. April (Sunday) at 15:30-20:00
Please contact @alex.9923 for the place.
STEP 2: AFFINITY GROUP MATCHING
You have already been in an action training but are not yet organized in an affinity group? Then come to one of the affinity group matchings.
They are every evening after dinner. If you don’t have time, please write on signal to @alex.9923.
STEP 3: ACTION
Already organized as a reference group? Great, then write a signal message to @alex.9923 for all info.
Action and Demo-Consensus
There is a binding action consensus:
- Our various forms of protest and action convey an image of Diversity, creativity and openness. We strive to break down barriers to enable everyone to participate.
- Our actions include Different action levels,
- The consumption of Intoxicants of any form is on our actions Prohibited and people are otherwise asked to go to the edge of the action or leave the action altogether.
- We film and and make photos of our actions to generate attention.
- We are an Open and peaceful Campaign and welcome every person who accepts our principles. The campaign should be a Safe Space for everyone. Therefore, we do not accept people who behave intolerantly or discriminatorily towards others. We reject racism, anti-Semitism, fascism, LGBTIQ*-hostility, and all forms of group-focused enmity. For this reason, we do not cooperate with the AfD or other right-wing extremist forces.
- We respect the dignity of every human being. Accordingly, the use of force of any kind, physical or psychologica is outside oof our action consensus and therefore prohibited on our actions. We reject all forms of violence and always strive for a peaceful solution to all conflicts. We reserve the right to civil disobedience. We are strictly nonviolent in our actions and our communication with the public, the police and each other. We treat everyone with Dignity and respect.
- In actions of civil disobedience we organize ourselves in Affinity groups. For activists we provide Action Trainings and Legal Workshops .
- We are an Non-party campaignAccordingly, advertising for parties on our actions, whether by flags or flyers, is prohibited, unless expressly communicated otherwise in advance. We are happy to cooperate with all parties, associations, organizations, movements and NGOs that share our principles and goals and are happy to accept support.
- Speeches, flags, banners, posters, flyers, stickers and other signs which have no link with our goals or contradict our consensus should not be shown in our actions .
- Anyone who does not adhere to our consensus is not desired in our actions and we reserve the right to actively enforce this point of consensus. Our approach is decided in the context of the situation.
We need your help!
A camp does not organize itself, but we manage it together, whether during cooking, awareness or the safety of the camp! At the Infopoint, shift plans will hang and in the morning plenary we will discuss the day together. There is also a signal chat for short-term tasks.
And since a camp also costs money, we are happy about each Donation!

What have you done so far?
Quite a lot.
On the Main page Under "Previous actions" you will find a small review of actions of the Alliance members.
But to create proper pressure, individual actions are not enough. That is why we have now come together for a coordinated campaign.
How has Heidelberg Materials reacted to you so far?
On 16 May In May 2024, we presented Heidelberg Materials at their Annual General Meeting our demands and clearly a compensation fund and an independent report.
But instead of going into it It was only stressed, that we already respect human rights in principle and already have enough in mind internally. The compensation fund is also too much to ask for, after all, they are already renewing (no joke) zebra crossings in Bulgaria and are already doing enough for the local communities...
Since then, there has been no further response from Heidelberg Materials to the demands.
Therefore, we continue to collect signatures for a Open letter on this.
